Jump into the sack with Brenda.
To demonstate just how strong our 'MegaBag' range of black bags are, Brenda Mathers, our 9 stone (57 kilo) 'Accounts Receivable Manager' jumped into the sack and was lifted 300mm off the ground by Kevin McCann (Sales Manager) and Brian McEvoy (Warehouse Controller).
Manufactured in Germany, 'MegaBags' are capable of holding up to 5 times more weight due to their DuoFlex construction which means that you can now supply your customers with exceptional performance at an exceptional price.

"Maximise your Profits with Newcel"
We launched our 'Tough Times Vol. 2' promo on 1st February 2009 featuring even more quality products at rock bottom prices.
The success of this campaign has been astonishing, we 'signed up' more new Distributors in February 2009 than in the previous 12 months combined!
The reason? It's very simple, to sell better you have to buy better, so you better call Newcel.

More feet gives Newcel a better leg to stand on.
In order to house the additional product lines we have acquired another 9000 sq feet (850 sq metres) of high bay storage in Carnbane Industrial Estate in Newry. This unit brings our total storage capacity to 55,000 sq feet - (Newry 35,000 - Belfast Port 10,000 and Ilkeston in England 10,000).
Our picture shows the first load being received into the new Newry facility - David McGurk son of our MD is pictured in the Newcel Jeep.

Instead of giving you gifts this year we again donated the entire Xmas budget to the Southern Area Hospice – we’re sure you’ll agree a truly worthy cause.
Congratulations to Kevin McCann aka 'Honest Kev'- (Newcel's Sales Manager) who celebrated his 50th birthday recently - we all agree he doesn't look a day over 60 - honestly!

A bigger slice of the cake…
Our MD Eunan McGurk celebrates another successful year as only he can – cake!
Commenting on the results Eunan said 'Although this year (FYE 31st August 2008) has been another successful year in terms of sales development and group profitability, the current economic slowdown and inevitable recession will present very challenging trading conditions in the year ahead. We are aware that our customers will need strong supplier support in order to compete successfully in the market for a bigger slice of the cake and at Newcel we are in excellent corporate shape to provide this support'.

Congratulations to Joanne and Joe on the occasion of their wedding.
Newcel's Joanne Wilson (our long suffering 'Accounts Payable' lady) married the man of her dreams Mr Joe Heatrick recently and invited all of the office team to celebrate their special day with a beautiful dinner in the Seagoe Hotel in Portadown.
Our picture also shows the 'office girls' before the bar opened as the photos taken after the bar closed were unsuitable for publication!!

More price increases on the horizon?
Read this four page 'confidential report' which gives you an insight into the current 'tissue industry crisis' and how it impacts at grass roots level.
June 2008
Newcel are the ‘Fastest Growing Paper Manufacturer in 2007’ (UK & Ireland) (Source: Plimsoll Analysis) with annual sales growth of 23.7%. Eunan McGurk our MD commented: “This performance confirms the popularity of our products, the quality of our service and of course the attractiveness of our prices. In the same period our biggest branded competitor in Ireland lost 13.8% sales volume which reflects the massive switch from overpriced brands to better value generics”.
June 2008
We launched our new website after years of neglect. The brief was to make it ‘user friendly and interesting’ and pack it with even more great value products for you to sell. What do you think?
18th May 2008 – Newcel’s 35th Birthday.
We are proud and truly amazed to have reached this landmark. Fewer than 0.5% of new businesses survive 35 years! No longer the ‘new kids on the block’ but still with loads of new challenges and opportunities ahead of us. Thanks everyone.
May 2008
Congratulations to Newcel employee Thomas Grant who completed 30 years service with the company this month. Seamus Murphy our Operations Director commented “Tommy joined Newcel as a teenager straight from school and over the years has done just about every job going. The success of our company lies in the skills of our employees and the contribution from Tommy has been invaluable”
May 2008
He’s modest you know (so he won’t tell you himself) - our MD Eunan McGurk won the Smurfitt Kappa ‘Pat McStay Memorial Trophy’ at Lisburn Golf Club with 36 points. The girls in our accounts office are demanding a recount!
April 2008
It’s made round to go round so we sponsored St. Marys GAA (Burren) football club with a 3 year package towards their U14 and U10 training programme
March 2008
Newcell sponsored Circuit of Ireland driver Barry McParland in his Mk 2 Ford Escort. Barry is a driver with ‘Surefreight’ (our haulage partners) and we can confirm that the brakes on his truck are better than those on his rally car. Oops!
February 2008

Our new 10 pallet truck is fitted with a 2 tonne tail lift to help make your deliveries easier and faster.

Our FYE was 31st August and we are delighted to announce sales growth of almost 24% in the last 12 months. This growth has been achieved through the organic growth of existing customers, the addition of new customers and the contribution of new products. Thank you all for your continued support.

July 2007
Launched our ‘Autumn / Winter Buyers Guide’ which will help you sell more of our great value products and help us remember how many cases of ‘hand towels’ are on a pallet!! We also have a download version for those with broadband which you can forward on to your customers.

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Seamus Murphy as Operations Director with overall responsibility for the day to day running of Newcel. Seamus, who is well known to most of you, joined Newcel in 1990 as a driver and has over the years developed a very strong relationship with our customers, staff and suppliers alike. Seamus looks forward to the challenges ahead of him and still plans to get behind the wheel of the Scania whenever time permits!
