Newcel and the Environment

Sales of environmental and ethical paper products are amongst the fastest growing in the market. Most commercial buyers say that the environment, already important today, will continue to form a much bigger part of their purchasing decisions tomorrow. (Source: Scandinfo 2008).

With over 35 years in the paper business Newcel has developed a proven and reliable environmental policy in partnership with our suppliers which ensures the ethical and environmental credentials of our company and our products.

All of Newcel's 'virgin pure pulp' products are sourced from sustainable forests where at least as many trees are planted as are harvested. Our suppliers must support the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), an independent international network which promotes environmentally sound, socially beneficial and economically viable forestry practices. The FSC is recognised as 'The World's' most credible verifier of responsible forest management and is recommended by the World Wildlife Fund.

Newcel insists on using recycled raw materials where possible in every aspect of our production facilities. In addition to paper itself, the board used in our cores, our primary and secondary polythene packaging, corrugated cartons, labels, pallets and pallet wrap are 100% recycled and are recyclable where possible.

All adhesives used in our production facilities are water based. Chemicals used (including OBA's) must be non chlorine based and colouring dyes must be environmentally friendly and have no impact on the marine environment.

At Newcel, environmental management involves every employee ensuring that everyone not only knows what to do, but also understands how different decisions made by them will ultimately impact on the quality of the environment for others.
